Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team Newsletter 7-22-11

Hello Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s almost August!

We have an exciting new team sales opportunity I hope you will be interested in!  Details are below!  Please read it carefully and respond as soon as possible if you are interested.

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover:

1.     Team Sale – Lexington
Mardi (mostlystellarstuff) has graciously offered us a space in her husband’s studio to hold a team sale!  The space is located off of Sunset Boulevard in Lexington.  We are planning on holding the sale on September 17 from 10:00am – 3:00pm.
Fees for the fair will be $25 per 6 foot table (this includes advertising fees).  The space can hold about 10-12 vendors with 6-foot tables, more if some are willing to share tables (just be sure to let me know if you will be sharing).  You must bring your own table or share with someone who has one.  We will be donating a portion of our proceeds to a local charity (any suggestions?).
If you are interested please send the $25 to my Paypal address (missprincesspeachtoadstool@gmail.com) by August 2.  If you can send it sooner that would be great as we really need to start advertising asap!  Be sure to note that it is for the Columbia Etsy Team Sale as well.  Also, when you send the money please note whether you are sharing a table or paying for a full table.  Also note what types of items you will be bringing (so we put it in our ads), where you suggest we advertise, and what charity you vote we support.
I’m very excited!  I think it will be a great time to make some sales! J

2.     Team Facebook Page

Joyce (joyshoppe.etsy.com) has been nice enough to create a team Facebook page!!!  Yay!!!  You can join the Facebook team here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_241644335852884  It’s both a great way to advertise and an easy way to post updates and participate in discussions so please join! Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team- Newsletter 2-13-11

Hello Everyone!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day!  I hope you all have a lovely day!!!  J

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover:

  1. Free Local Shipping/Pickup-

We’ve had a few more people offer free shipping/pickup/delivery!  New additions are marked in italics and bold.  Here’s the complete list:

Let me know if you would like to be added to the list!

  1. Sandhills Craft Fair Update-

The craft fair at the Village at Sandhills has been cancelled.  We are currently in the process of finding another time and location to hold the fair.

  1. Local Sales Opportunity-  1616designs and AnnieFowlerDesigns wanted to share a neat sales opportunity they have started:
1616designs says: “I have started a Weekly Artisan Market in 5 Points with 2 other ladies. We will be open every Saturday. The time frame right now is 11 - 3, but as we progress, that could possibly change a little. We are interviewing artisans who are interested in floor space. The terms right now are 15% of sales or $25 per Saturday, whichever you prefer. If anyone is interested, please email me at ReneeRichardson@sc.rr.com and I will forward you an application for you to fill out and send back to be reviewed by the partners.”
If you are interested please contact Renee or Annie.  I have also attached the application mentioned above so check that out if you are interested.  You can also check out their Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/theartisanmarket

4.      Local Destash Party
Melinda of Naturesadornments had the great idea of having a team “destash party.”
naturesadornments says: “I have dabbled in so many different crafts over the years and have a ton of craft supplies that I don't think I will ever use but do not want to throw them away and even if I knew of someone that could use them, I would love to get just a little bit of my money back that I paid for them. I am sure that there are many local crafters in the same situation. It can be hard to "destash" online because by the time someone pays S&H, they may as well go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

I think it would be great if maybe a dozen or so local crafters could get together to buy, sell or trade craft supplies they no longer need. For example I have tons of beads, fabric etc that I would love to trade for stamps, felting supplies, craft paint, brushes...etc.

Plus we may make a few friends in the process. Any thoughts on the subject?

Melinda”
If you are interested in this event, please visit the discussion here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6774701/

Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team Newsletter 1-30-11

Hello Everyone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend!

Our team is still growing!  We’re up to 153 members!  Welcome everyone!  We all look forward to working with you!

Our First Team Craft Fair will be held on May 7th (the Saturday before Mother’s Day) at the Village at Sandhills.  How exciting!!!

If you would be interested in participating in this event please contact Joyce at littlelordmars@yahoo.com for details on how to pay for your spot.  She needs to receive all checks or money orders by February 1st.  The cost per spot is $25.

  1. Local Sales Opportunity-

Michele, from Haute Interiors, LLC has discovered another local sales opportunity:

“Towana Allen who owns the Avon  shop on Sparkleberry Ext. in NE Columbia rents out some of her space.

I have used space to hold home decor events there myself.

She strives to help small businesses and network together.

Her charges are $10/hr per person.  Or, 3 hours/$25.  Maximum of 3 people at a time.  They can have 2 long rectangular tables each to display and sell merchandise on.

Each person would be responsible for marketing their own event/time there.  But, as a bonus, she does send out an email to all her Avon contacts to let them know details of the events that are held there.

Her contact info and address just in case crafters want to drop by to check the place out:

Towana Allen
1061 Sparkleberry Lane Ext
Suite D
Columbia SC 29223

803.699.8327

Regular Store Hours:
Closed Sun & Mon
Tues-Wed 11 am - 6 pm
Thurs-Fri 11 am - 7 pm
Sat - 10 - 4

Sometimes she will stay open longer to accommodate people when an event is there, but this is discussed when setting up the rental.”

Thank you Michele for letting us know about this opportunity!

  1. Opportunity for Dress Maker-

“I'm fascinated by patterns for the '40s and '50s and would like to have some dresses made. I'm looking for someone who can do custom work, as I'm short-waisted, knock-kneed, cross-eyed ... Not really, but I'm not a willowy model, so I'm sure the patterns will need adjusting. “

If you are interested in this opportunity please check out the forum here:
http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6754084/

  1. Team Alchemy Requests-

As many of you may or may not know, Etsy’ Alchemy function is ending next week.  Therefore, I have started a forum for our own alchemy request:
http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6765551/

If you have an item that you would like a team member to make you can post it here.  Also, if you are a seller and offer custom items, you can also post it there as well.

This Week’s To Do List-
a. Check out the forums, especially the discussions about new team treasuries, new introductions, and new non-Etsy websites: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team

Well, I think that’s it for now.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!  J

Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team - 1-21-11 Newsletter

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well this week!  There’s not much to say this week so this email should be relatively brief.

We’re up to 148 members!  Hello to all new members!  We look forward to working with you this year!

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover:

  1. Free Local Shipping/Pickup- We’ve had a few more people offer free shipping/pickup/delivery!  Here’s the complete list:

Let me know if you would like to be added to the list!

  1. Team Sale-  littlelordmars found a wonderful selling opportunity for our team.  Just as a reminder here is the description from the last newsletter:

“I have an idea for a Craft Fair and wanted to run it by everyone. There is a Community Room at the Village at Sandhill in NE Columbia, which allows a daily rental of events .Here is website link to the Community Room: http://www.villageatsandhillonline.com/CR%20FAQ.php

The daily cost of the room is $500 – which includes 20, 8ft tables and 85 chairs – so if 20 Etsy shops participate, it would only be $25 a shop.

The requirements for reservations are that they cannot be made further out than 120 days in advance and full payment is required upon the reservation.

 Thanks!
Joyce”
The current plan is to aim to hold this event on May 7th (the Saturday before Mother’s Day).

If you would be interested in participating in this event please indicate your interest in the forums here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6732203/  In the forums you can also find the discussion about advertising, dates, prices, etc.

Or you can email Joyce at littlelordmars@yahoo.com  We need an accurate number of those interested in selling so we can determine space allotments, so please let us know as soon as you can if you are interested.

Also, Joyce is sending out updates to anyone interested.  If you would like to join the mailing list for this, please send her your email address at (littlelordmars@yahoo.com).

I think it would be a really great opportunity for us all to get together to sell!  And it would be a lot of fun!  Please let us know if you are interested so we can organize an interest meeting!

This Week’s To Do List-
a. Post in the forums and check out the shops of fellow team members on the team page: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team
