Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team Newsletter 1-30-11

Hello Everyone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend!

Our team is still growing!  We’re up to 153 members!  Welcome everyone!  We all look forward to working with you!

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover:

  1. Free Local Shipping/Pickup-

We’ve had a few more people offer free shipping/pickup/delivery!  New additions are marked in italics and bold.  Here’s the complete list:

Let me know if you would like to be added to the list!

  1. Sandhills Craft Fair Update-

Our First Team Craft Fair will be held on May 7th (the Saturday before Mother’s Day) at the Village at Sandhills.  How exciting!!!

If you would be interested in participating in this event please contact Joyce at littlelordmars@yahoo.com for details on how to pay for your spot.  She needs to receive all checks or money orders by February 1st.  The cost per spot is $25.

  1. Local Sales Opportunity-

Michele, from Haute Interiors, LLC has discovered another local sales opportunity:

“Towana Allen who owns the Avon  shop on Sparkleberry Ext. in NE Columbia rents out some of her space.

I have used space to hold home decor events there myself.

She strives to help small businesses and network together.

Her charges are $10/hr per person.  Or, 3 hours/$25.  Maximum of 3 people at a time.  They can have 2 long rectangular tables each to display and sell merchandise on.

Each person would be responsible for marketing their own event/time there.  But, as a bonus, she does send out an email to all her Avon contacts to let them know details of the events that are held there.

Her contact info and address just in case crafters want to drop by to check the place out:

Towana Allen
1061 Sparkleberry Lane Ext
Suite D
Columbia SC 29223

803.699.8327

Regular Store Hours:
Closed Sun & Mon
Tues-Wed 11 am - 6 pm
Thurs-Fri 11 am - 7 pm
Sat - 10 - 4

Sometimes she will stay open longer to accommodate people when an event is there, but this is discussed when setting up the rental.”

Thank you Michele for letting us know about this opportunity!

  1. Opportunity for Dress Maker-

“I'm fascinated by patterns for the '40s and '50s and would like to have some dresses made. I'm looking for someone who can do custom work, as I'm short-waisted, knock-kneed, cross-eyed ... Not really, but I'm not a willowy model, so I'm sure the patterns will need adjusting. “

If you are interested in this opportunity please check out the forum here:

  1. Team Alchemy Requests-

As many of you may or may not know, Etsy’ Alchemy function is ending next week.  Therefore, I have started a forum for our own alchemy request:
http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6765551/

If you have an item that you would like a team member to make you can post it here.  Also, if you are a seller and offer custom items, you can also post it there as well.

This Week’s To Do List-
a. Check out the forums, especially the discussions about new team treasuries, new introductions, and new non-Etsy websites: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team
b. Let me know if you would like to be included on the free local pickup list.
c. Send payment to Joyce (littlelordmars) if you are interested in participating in the team sale on May 7th.
d. Check out the other local sales opportunities
e. Check out the new team alchemy forum and post your requests/offers there.

Well, I think that’s it for now.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!  J

Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team - 1-21-11 Newsletter

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well this week!  There’s not much to say this week so this email should be relatively brief.

We’re up to 148 members!  Hello to all new members!  We look forward to working with you this year!

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover:

  1. Free Local Shipping/Pickup- We’ve had a few more people offer free shipping/pickup/delivery!  Here’s the complete list:

Let me know if you would like to be added to the list!

  1. Team Sale-  littlelordmars found a wonderful selling opportunity for our team.  Just as a reminder here is the description from the last newsletter:

“I have an idea for a Craft Fair and wanted to run it by everyone. There is a Community Room at the Village at Sandhill in NE Columbia, which allows a daily rental of events .Here is website link to the Community Room: http://www.villageatsandhillonline.com/CR%20FAQ.php

The daily cost of the room is $500 – which includes 20, 8ft tables and 85 chairs – so if 20 Etsy shops participate, it would only be $25 a shop.

The requirements for reservations are that they cannot be made further out than 120 days in advance and full payment is required upon the reservation.

 Thanks!
Joyce”
The current plan is to aim to hold this event on May 7th (the Saturday before Mother’s Day).

If you would be interested in participating in this event please indicate your interest in the forums here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6732203/  In the forums you can also find the discussion about advertising, dates, prices, etc.

Or you can email Joyce at littlelordmars@yahoo.com  We need an accurate number of those interested in selling so we can determine space allotments, so please let us know as soon as you can if you are interested.

Also, Joyce is sending out updates to anyone interested.  If you would like to join the mailing list for this, please send her your email address at (littlelordmars@yahoo.com).

I think it would be a really great opportunity for us all to get together to sell!  And it would be a lot of fun!  Please let us know if you are interested so we can organize an interest meeting!

This Week’s To Do List-
a. Post in the forums and check out the shops of fellow team members on the team page: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team
b. Let me know if you would like to be included on the free local pickup list.

Columbia's Famously Hot Etsy Team - Newsletter 1-10-11

Hello Everyone!

Yay for snow days!  In my opinion this is the best way to start off a new semester at school!  I hope you all are staying warm and safe!

We’re up to 144 members!  Hello to all new members!  We look forward to working with you!

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover.  There are some very important announcements this time so please read carefully!

  1. Free Local Shipping/Pickup- We’ve had a few more people offer free shipping/pickup/delivery!  Here’s the complete list:

Let me know if you would like to be added to the list!

  1. Treasury-  I found the following in the last Etsy team email:
"As you may have noticed, we've been featuring one Team Treasury a week in this newsletter. If you'd like to get involved, flex those Treasury-making muscles and show us what you've got! … The most important thing to remember is to tag your treasury with the word "etsyteam" and if you use Twitter, use the #EtsyTeamTreasury tag in your tweets when sharing those links. Good luck!”
A team treasure featured in the newsletter would be a great way to promote our team!  So get out there and make some team treasuries!

We have one new team treasury this week!  It’s a Valentine treasury!  Check it out and post your own!

  1. Local Craft Opportunities-  CraftyFeast is coming on April 16th!  For more information please refer to this link: http://www.craftyfeast.com/Welcome.html
