Weekly Email 11-19-10

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday!  As for me, I’m definitely ready for the weekend and another Gamecock game day!  ^_^

Thank you all again for joining the team!  I’m really excited!  Only 9 days old and we already have 91 members!  We’re close to triple digits!  That’s really amazing.  Thank you everybody!  This team is going to be great!

I apologize in advance for the long email.  There is a lot to cover!  I tried to organize it so it’s easy to follow.  Bear with me!  I don’t plan on being so long winded every week.

Alright, on to the list of business topics to cover:

1. Introductions- If you are interested in getting to know everyone a little better, check out our Introduction forum: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6680121/     Many of our members have already posted shorted bios about themselves in this forum.  It’s wonderful to read about everyone!  I, personally, have really enjoyed it.  If you haven’t checked it out, please do.  If you haven’t posted your bio there, please do!  It’s a great way to get to know your fellow team members.

2. Member Suggestions-  Due to the limited local search function in Etsy I have only been able to locate and invite a small number of local sellers to the team.  Therefore, if you know of any other local sellers or buyers who might be interested in our team, please send me their usernames and I’ll send them an invite.

3. Local Selling Opportunities-  Several of our team members have mentioned various selling and buying opportunities you might be interested in.  If you know of any craft shows, fundraisers, or other local selling opportunities, please post it here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6681704/   Or you can send me a message and I will be happy to include it in the weekly email.

Here are some of the opportunities I learned about this week:

a. Momsfavoriteshop- “We are participating in our first show this weekend. It is too late to sign up for this year but I will let you all know how it goes for next year. Anyways come out and support your fellow Etsy sellers. There are several of us in the show. It is at Wren High School in Piedmont SC on Saturday Nov 20 from 9-12. Here is the link: hurricaneprideproject.blogspot.com”
b. Pc4nk- “And some local news: (1) I have a window at Tapps (inside on the Blanding Street side) plus I will be one of the artists at First Thursday At Tapps on December 2.  (2) I will be participating as one of the artists at the Trenholm Art Guild's Holiday Market - near the Piggly Wiggly on Forest Drive.”
Thank you both for keeping us informed!

4. CraftCount.com-  I was asked by mwendas, the creator of CraftCount.com to pass this along.  “I'm not sure if you've heard of Craftcount. http://www.craftcount.com  Its an app that tracks the Etsy top sellers with over 1000 sales by country and category, updated every 24 hours. Im sure I have not fully sassed out everyone who should be on it and I'm in the process of trying to make the lists as accurate as I can.  … if you know of anyone in your team, with over 1000 sales, who is missing and should be on the lists..I'd appreciate a shout out.”  So if you fall into this category, please send me a message and I’ll pass it on to her!

5. Team Tag-  HauteInteriorsLLC brought up a good point in the discussion board.  We need a team tag!  So how about “FamouslyHot”?  Let me know what you think.  If you like it, use it!  If you don’t. send me your suggestions!  The current discussion is going on here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6681703/

6. Shop Advice and Feedback Section- We’re a team and team members help each other!  If you would like suggestions about how to improve your shop, banner, avatar, items, photos, sales, views, etc. please post it here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6689148/   Also be sure and check this link and leave feedback for those seeking help!  After all, the better each member of the team does, the more the entire team benefits.

7. New Item Promotion- If you have a new item you would like to show off, post it here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6681701/   It’s a lot of fun checking out what everyone has been working on!

8. Non-Etsy Sites-  If you have a non-Etsy site you would like to let everyone know about, please post it here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6689910/  This includes websites, blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter pages, eBay pages, etc.

9. Team Treasuries-  Several people have already posted team treasuries!  They’re a lot of fun to look at and even more fun to make!

The complete list can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6682730/

Thanks to everyone that posted!

10. Volunteers to Answer Specific Requests-  I have received several requests from team members about wanting advice from veteran Etsy sellers on increasing views and sales, the benefits of showcasing, etc.  If anyone would like to address any of these issues, just send me a short write-up of your thoughts and I will include some of them in the next email.  Or if you prefer you can start a specific discussion board for these topics or see this general discussion: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6689148/ .  Either way your advice would be greatly appreciated!

11. Future Ideas-  I have several ideas in the works for new projects for the team and I would love to hear what you think!

a. Featured seller-  I think it would be fun to add a featured seller to each email.  Each seller chosen would write a short bio, a short advice column and include links to some of their favorite items.  It would be similar to the articles in the Etsy newsletter, but it would be local.  I think it would be a lot of fun!

b. Group Sale-  I would love a chance for us all to get together and sell together as a group!  It would be a great opportunity to meet each other and see everyone’s items in person!  If anyone has any suggestions on when or where we could do something like this, please let me know!  It would be a fun way to meet and make sales at the same time!

c. Holiday Party-  This is the idea I am most excited about.  I think it would be amazing to get together at a local restaurant just before the holidays for a gift exchange.  Everyone could bring one $5-$10 item from their shop.  It would be a fun way to meet everyone and everyone gets a present from another shop!  Let me know if you like this idea or if you have any suggestions for when or where we could meet!

12. General Suggestions-  Do you have an particular suggestions about the team in general, the team page,  meeting opportunities, emails or anything?  Is there something in particular you would like to see in this email?  Then post it here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/6698/columbias-famously-hot-etsy-team/discuss/6681703/  Or just send me a message if you prefer to keep it private.

In Summary, The Big To Do List-  So here’s the quick checklist of things to work on in the next week:
a. Post your bio on the forums if you haven’t already.
b. Send me suggestions for new members.
c. Send me or post local selling opportunities.
d. Check CraftCount.com if you have over 1000 sales.
e. Vote on the team tag.
f. Leave feedback in the shop feedback forum
g. Share your new items and non-Etsy websites on the forums.
h. Make a team treasury.
i. Let me know if you are interested in writing a suggestion column
j. Give me feedback about the featured seller, group sale and holiday party ideas.
k. Send me any great ideas you have for the weekly email, team page, or team in general.

Well, I think that’s enough for now.  I’m sure I’ve forgotten something, but I suppose I better leave something to write about next week!  Again, thank you all so much for joining the group!  I can’t wait to get started!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Megan
